  • Rainy Day

    It's going to be rainy all day today here in Northern Virginia.  I'll probably have to play taxi driver this afternoon, but other than that I'll be home, reading, writing, and contemplating.  I usually don't like the rain, but today I don't mind it.  It fits my pensive mood.

    If you deal with food and weight issues, I highly recommend this book.  I just got it yesterday and started reading it this morning - already I'm 1/3 of the way through and it's made a huge difference in my understanding.

  • Hey Marty...I am not familiar with the book though I consider myself to be very fit.  My lifestyle is built around simple meals, small portion sizes, limited junk food, limited alcohol consumption, a lot of enjoyable excercise in the form of hiking, cycling, canoeing, kayaking, good hydration and reasonable amounts of rest.

    For weight control there is no secret...one must burn as many calories as they consume to maintain steady weight.  Burn more calories than consumed and one will drop weight.  Consume more than burned...yep you guessed it, weight gain.  There is no way around it for people with normal metabolic rates.  It is not magic.
