  • As an avowed disbeliever, I am a frequent reader of athiestic literature.  Christopher Hitchens is by far my favorite writer for style and the ability to turn a phrase.  I love Richard Dawkins and Carl Sagan for their application of science to the argument that there is no evidence to support the existence of an omniscient, omipotent, omnipresent diety.  In their words,"...the absence of evidence is the evidence of absence.".

This piece, however, runs more in the direction of Sam Harris or Salman Rushdie.  Unlike the other authors I mentioned who are content to objectively state their disbeliefs but are tolerant of the faith of others, Rushdie and Harris point out the fundamental evils of religiosity.  They make impassioned arguments for the end of religion.

I wrote on the folly of prayer to celebrate Xmas ( http://weblog.xanga.com/Slag_Runner/636376442/the-power-of-prayer.html ) and have added other pieces from time to time raising my own objections to the tyranny of religion.  This was a very refreshing video.  Thanks for sharing.

    Jay
