  • ECRU

Saying that one's favorite color is ecru (a relative of beige) is probably akin to saying one's favorite flavor is vanilla. It probably seems very dull - not very exotic or adventurous. And actually, my favorite color is burgandy, followed closely by other shades of purple. But ecru is still a very nice color. I tend to get beige, tan, and ecru clothes, especially when buying nice 'grown-up' dressy clothes, and I think these colors look quite classy. I have to purposefully set out to buy colorful clothes, or I'd probably end up with a closet full of browns, tans, beiges, and ecrus, not to mention eggshell, ivory, and gold.

I like colorful clothes, too - I have orange, yellow, blue, sage, and Hawaiin shirts, and a Looney Tunes shirt that I often wear to teach 10 year olds creative writing. But I gravitate toward ecru, I'm afraid.

And I do like vanilla very much.

  • you know for some reason I HATE any thing that has to do with brown. I never wear it and it never creeps in my house. I don't know why I got such a stong dislike for it. Hmmmm now you got me wondering

  • My favorite color is red--the redder, the better. But I also like neutrals and bright, bold fall colors. I can't stand pastels. They look like they can't make up their minds, if that makes any sense.

  • Teehee, that is so weird, because as soon as I read
"ecru" I thought "Beige is the most boring color in the world!  It even sounds BORING.  At least ECRU sounds arcane and strange!"

I know what you mean about "grown-up" clothes and "play" clothes.  I think it's a lot like my opinions for "going out" and "staying in" clothes.

Can't hurt to have a ecru with your vanilla!

  • I like red too...

actually (being a man and all) primary colors seem the most attractive (which rules red out, but oh well!)...

Vanilla is my favorite flavor though...  very much so.
