5-minute Random-Word Freewriting Exercise:
CAVE
Although spelunking promises a certain adventure and fun that draws me in, going down into a dark enclosed hole in the ground would probably be my least favorite of all the sports. I'd much rather climb up a rock face than burrow into the ground. Although I've actually done neither. I've been up on mountaintops, and into caverns, but both have been very safe 'tourist' expeditions.
No real risk - no real danger - no real sport.
Heights do not bother me, but the possibility of being trapped alone in a small dark place does. I don't even turn off the bathroom light in my own house until I have the bathroom door open.
This trepidation isn't strong enough to be called a phobia, I don't panic about it or anything, but it is something I'm careful about and I avoid the situation whenever I can.
